Covid-19 Safeguards

Notes on the safeguards

The 2nd COVID-19 Basic Measures Ordinance (expected to be valid up to and including January 15, 2023) regulates nationwide health policy measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Measures should only be taken where this is absolutely necessary from an epidemiological point of view.

  • The current regulations will initially be extended until January 15, 2023.
  • Traffic restrictions apply to people who have tested positive (according to the COVID-19 Traffic Restriction Ordinance)
  • No FFP2 mask requirement in essential trade, public transport, pharmacies, etc.
  • FFP2 mask requirement only in particularly “vulnerable settings” (hospitals, retirement and nursing homes)

Entering Austria

There is currently no obligation to present a 3-G certificate when entering Austria.

The COVID-19-EinreiseV is now only limited to regulations for entry from virus variant areas (Annex 1). Since no state or area is currently listed as a virus variant area in Annex 1, there are currently no (health police) restrictions/requirements when entering Austria.

You do NOT currently have to register when entering Austria.
